About the Role

The Company Manager is at the heart of PDC's operations, ensuring our work runs smoothly through strong systems, clear planning, and excellent communication.

This role will work closely with the Artistic Director & CEO and Executive Producer to deliver PDC's artistic ambitions through effective business, operational, and financial management. You will also support governance, HR, and compliance, enabling the company's artistic projects to shine.

Reports to: Executive Producer
Works closely with: Freelance Accountant

Terms of Employment

  • Salary: £34,000 per annum (pro rata, 4 days per week)
  • Contract: Fixed term to March 2028
  • Hours: 4 days / 28 hours per week, to be agreed with some flexibility for occasional evenings/weekends
  • Location: Remote working, with monthly in-person meetings
  • Holiday: 25 days per year (pro rata) plus statutory bank holidays
  • Probation period: 3 months
  • Notice period: 2 months

Job Requirements

Person Specification

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years' management experience in a relevant context.
  • Strong financial management and reporting skills in a non-profit environment.
  • Understanding of UK arts funding and governance.
  • Experience line managing staff or freelancers.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High-level IT literacy (Google Workspace, Quickbooks).
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable

  • Experience with CRM or project management systems.
  • Familiarity with Arts Council England reporting.
  • Interest in dance or cross-disciplinary arts.

Qualities

  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Creative and entrepreneurial mindset.

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Managerial

  • Lead recruitment/contracting of staff and freelancers in line with industry standards.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and systems.
  • Manage leases, insurance, health & safety, safeguarding, and environmental sustainability processes.
  • Prepare and circulate board papers; attend and minute board meetings.

Financial

  • Lead on cashflow management, forecasting, reconciliations, and quarterly/annual management accounts (with Accountant support).
  • Manage payments, bookkeeping, and budget monitoring.
  • Oversee payroll, pensions, and employee benefits.

Operational

  • Maintain organisational systems, files, and archives.
  • Manage licences and royalties for projects.
  • Support programme delivery and scheduling.
  • Oversee premises rental and office resources.

Monitoring & Reporting

  • Track KPIs and evaluation data.
  • Coordinate reporting to funders and partners, including Arts Council England.

Fundraising Support

  • Assist in preparing funding applications
