From 7th December 2025 to 4th January 2026, JW3 will be staging CINDERELLA AND THE MATZO BALL. Produced by JW3 and Plotnek Productions, our panto is now in its 3rd year - our first two having been nominated for 3 Offies and 1 UK Panto Award!

Job Description

TYPE & LENGTH: Freelance, 10 November 2025 - 6 January 2026

HOURS: Variable, but expectation is 5 days a week during rehearsal period, then followed by 10 shows per week (show times will vary); there will be a show on Christmas Day so availability on this date is a key requirement. Potential for need to support on get-out dates (5th and 6th January).

RATE OF PAY: £675 per week (+ relevant holiday payment)

DUTIES:

  • Working with the director, producer and production manager, create and manage rehearsal schedules, leading on issuing and distributing daily rehearsal calls
  • Working with the designer, ASM and production manager, make and/or procure props, furniture and set dressings
  • Arrange costume and wig fittings to align with rehearsal schedules, in collaboration with cast and Costume Supervisor / MUA
  • Manage the props budget alongside the Production Manager
  • Ensure that thorough minutes are recorded in Production Meetings and distributed to wider team
  • Liaise with the director, stage personnel and other technical departments, such as costume, lighting and sound ensuring clear channels of communication
  • Working with ASM to maintain and replace props as required
  • Ensure the company's welfare and wellbeing throughout the show run,
  • Act as the first point of contact for company members for any issues relating to welfare or wellbeing, reporting any relevant issues to the Producer
  • Ensure all Company members have access to resources, facilities, and equipment necessary to carry out their roles safely and effectively.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation and good working practices
  • Oversee the DSM and ASM supporting them as required
  • Show duties - supporting backstage with costume and set changes and supporting the company as required.

Please note: Interviews for successful applicants will be held on a rolling basis as submissions are received, and the position may be filled before the closing date.

Job Requirements

  • Self-motivated, proactive and energetic, with the ability to work well with performers and other theatre staff.
  • A calm and practical approach to technical trouble-shooting.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience of working on panto or similar productions.
