Role Overview

Lead fun, high-energy music and movement classes for young children as a cover teacher, stepping in for sessions when needed. You'll use live singing, rhythm play, and colourful props to deliver the Little Music Stars curriculum and help children build confidence, coordination, and creativity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Little Music Stars classes for confident walkers (approx. 2-4 years old) on an ad-hoc or frequent cover basis.

  • Sing live throughout sessions and lead engaging music and movement activities.

  • Use props such as puppets, scarves, claves, bubbles, and parachutes.

  • Teach rhythm, simple phonics, shapes, and early musical concepts through playful, themed lessons.

  • Follow the 6-week themed curriculum (e.g. Stars in Space, Jolly Jungle, Rainbow Magic).

  • Create a warm, fun, and structured environment for children and caregivers.

  • Set up and pack away props before and after class.

  • Communicate your availability reliably for scheduling cover.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong, confident singing voice.

  • Experience working with young children (music, performing arts, early years, childcare).

  • Energetic, friendly, and confident leading a group.

  • Good musicality and rhythm.

  • Reliable and comfortable stepping in when needed.

  • DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Desirable:

  • Performing arts, music, or early years background.

  • Paediatric first aid.

  • Experience running children's classes.

Job Requirements

Essential:

  • Strong, confident singing voice (live singing required).

  • Experience working with young children (performing arts, early years, music, childcare, or similar).

  • High energy, warmth, and excellent stage presence.

  • Good sense of musicality and rhythm.

  • Strong communication skills with both children and adults.

  • Reliable, punctual, and comfortable stepping in at short notice.

  • DBS check (or willingness to complete one).

Desirable:

  • Background in music, performing arts, or early years education.

  • Experience teaching children's classes or similar programmes.

  • Paediatric first aid certification (I can accomodate this)

  • Ability to support occasional promotional or social media tasks.

  • Encourage children's confidence, coordination, listening skills, and imagination.

  • Set up and pack away props and equipment before and after class.

  • Communicate clearly and reliably about availability for cover sessions.

  • Maintain a positive, welcoming atmosphere for children and caregivers.
