Job Summary

We are looking for a freelance Programme Producer to support the delivery of Surrey Craft Legacies, a year-long project celebrating endangered craft skills through workshops, oral-history films, a public exhibition, and a digital archive.

Job Description

Fee: £15 per hour. Hours: 100 (freelance, timesheet-based) Contract: November 2025 - October 2026. New Ashgate Gallery Trust is delivering Surrey Craft Legacies: Preserving Endangered Skills, Sharing Local Heritage, a major project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project protects four endangered crafts (stained glass, silver spinning, weaving, and furniture making) through oral-history films, six hands-on workshops, a public exhibition, and a digital archive. The Programme Producer will support the coordination and delivery of the project from start to finish, working with partners, makers, and participants to achieve the project's goals. The role includes planning, scheduling, supporting oral-history filming, managing the workshop programme, coordinating the exhibition, preparing the digital archive launch, delivering communications, and compiling evaluation and reporting for the funder. Job Requirements

Responsibilities: You will oversee the project schedule, manage communication with partners, makers and project volunteers, and ensure access needs, safeguarding, and risk assessments are addressed. You will attend and support workshops, collect attendance and feedback, and ensure that sessions are welcoming and inclusive for all participants. You will coordinate filming days, permissions, and logistics, and gather material for communications and the archive. Working with the gallery team and gallery volunteers, you will support the exhibition preparation. You will also liaise with Surrey History Centre to deliver the digital archive and learning resources. Throughout the contract, you will provide copy and images for the website, social media, and funder updates, and prepare short monthly summaries of progress. At the end of the project, you will compile a concise evaluation report with evidence of outcome

You will also liaise with Surrey History Centre to deliver the digital archive and learning resources. Throughout the contract, you will provide copy and images for the website, social media, and funder updates, and prepare short monthly summaries of progress. At the end of the project, you will compile a concise evaluation report with evidence of outcomes and reach.
