Creative Lives, in partnership with Essex County Council, is seeking a freelance practitioner based in Essex to lead the establishment and delivery of a new Essex Creative Health Network.

This role responds to the recommendations from the recently published https://www.creative-lives.org/Listing/Category/creative-lives-in-essex - Mapping Creative Health in Essex report and aims to support creative health activity to flourish and meet health outcomes across the county through strategic collaboration and joined-up thinking.

Fee

The fee for the work is £6,500 inclusive of VAT (£200 per day for 32.5 days).

The contract will run from July 2025 to June 2026 and will be supported by senior staff from Creative Lives and Essex County Council.

Job Requirements

Ideal candidate

We are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who have experience of working strategically across both cultural and health sectors, and who are confident in convening partners, driving local change, and turning recommendations into action. You will need to be based in Essex and demonstrate:

  • Experience working with senior stakeholders across cultural and/or health sectors
  • Knowledge and commitment to creative health approaches and the Essex context
  • The ability to plan and deliver strategic meetings and training sessions
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Confidence in working independently to deliver research and reporting
  • The ability to represent a diverse range of partners and perspectives

You will also be skilled at identifying local opportunities and creating momentum around shared goals. A budget is available to bring in additional training expertise if needed.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Establish an Essex Creative Health Network, including drafting a Terms of Reference and convening four network meetings before June 2026
  • Conduct focused place-based research in Tendring and Castle Point to explore how creativity can help address health inequalities
  • Plan and deliver two bespoke training sessions for creative health practitioners across Essex to improve practice and support practitioner wellbeing
