Collective Encounters is seeking someone who is organised, creative, and empathetic to support the delivery of our Adult Theatre for Social Change group in Liverpool.

Job Description

Contract type: Fixed term: 5 months, June - October

Hours: 8 per week, including essential attendance at fortnightly workshops on a Saturday

Salary: £14/hour

Location: Home working and attendance at workshops in Liverpool City Region

Expected start date: week beginning 2 June 2025

The Company

Collective Encounters is an arts charity specialising in Theatre for Social Change. We aim to use creativity and knowledge for social justice and social change. Operating since 2004 and based in Liverpool, Collective Encounters delivers a broad range of participatory theatre projects, events, and research initiatives, creating new work that builds power.

The Project

The Adult Theatre for Social Change group is Collective Encounters' regular group for adults who want to build skills in theatre and creativity, working towards performances across Liverpool City Region and online. The group meets every other Saturday at St Micheal in the City, Upper Pitt Street, L1, and monthly on a Wednesday afternoon online. https://collective-encounters.org.uk/events/ - Check the website for upcoming workshop dates. The group have previously created cabarets, forum theatre shows, street theatre, and audio works. They are currently working on a theatre performance that aims to inform policy making around Liverpool advice services.

Creative Support Worker

We are seeking someone who is organised, creative, and empathetic to support the delivery of our Adult Theatre for Social Change group. The role would suit an emerging or early career participatory theatre maker, or someone with experience in youth and community work who has an interest in Theatre for Social Change. You will have a commitment to inclusion and be able to support people with a variety of needs to get the most out of the group. You will be confident providing administrative support, arranging workshop resources, and getting involved creatively during both online and in person sessions.
