Description

Job Summary

We are looking for a creative who identifies as BIPOC and is based in or has a connection to Hull to work with young people over the course of 8 weeks in weekly sessions to showcase elements of your culture through creative skills

Job Description

This project aims to allow young people to develop creative skills whilst learning and exploring cultures and heritage that they may not have experienced before.

We are not looking for any projects related to music for this call out; we are looking for other creative elements so that young people can learn skills in other areas besides music as we already have a heavy music offer.

We are interested in hearing from freelancers with all types of skills (except music), and we have access to different creative spaces to facilitate this: a dance studio, black box theatre space, an art space and our digital hub, The Curve. This means we can facilitate many different creative skills in our building.

You are expected to empower young people within sessions, listening to their ideas, and incorporating their thoughts and voices into any pieces of work they make where appropriate.

Agreed fee for the Freelancer for the whole 8 week project is £1560; £125 per half day for a 3-hour afternoon session plus £70 planning fee (2hrs) per week.

The delivery budget to execute all other elements and resources for the project is additional £1500. Your proposal must realistically fit into this budget.

Job Requirements

You must:

  • Self identify as BIPOC

  • Be available to deliver 8 half-day (3 hour) drop-in-style sessions over the course of 8 weeks, running between August 2025 and December 2025 in the afternoon. For the most part, these sessions must run at The Warren Youth Project.

  • Have or be willing to undergo a DBS check.

  • Be registered as self-employed and be responsible for your own tax contributions.

  • Plan and facilitate engaging sessions that allow young people to build their creative and communication skills whilst adhering to our ethos.
  • Propose realistic, yet exciting sessions that allow young people to experience an element of your culture that aligns with your professional skillset as well as being within the budget.

Ideally:

  • You have made collaborative work before.
  • Have experience facilitating work with young people.
  • Work in an adaptable and flexible way.

Job Responsibilities

To run 8 half day sessions in the afternoon within The Warren Youth Project (based in Hull) that engages young people aged 16-25 and teaches them elements of your culture and creative skills.
