We are in need of a Dance Teacher to join our team of professional industry teachers every Saturday! You will take on the position of Dance Teacher which will involve teaching 4 x 45 min classes to children aged 7-18 (children split into age groups, not ability). We employ 2 dance teachers every Saturday and they both share the responsibility of teaching Dance Technique and Dance Performance/Choreography to our 4 teams of students. All teams of students are split in age, not dance ability so each team has a mixed dance ability. Please note: we are not a "dance school" and do not have the strongest of dancers who attend. It is the job of the dance teacher to come up with choreography that looks effective and fun but isn't too demanding. Our academic year is split up into 3 terms: Autumn Term - this is our Technical Term where all dance classes focus on technique and also picking up short sections of choreography quickly. Spring Term - this is our Filming Term, where our dance teachers work on a musical theatre style "song and dance" number (vocals will be taught in the singing class with their vocal teacher) which will then be filmed in a "music style" video at the end of the term! This is so much fun and the students love it! Summer Term - this is our Show Term, where each team works on a excerpt of a musical (looking at scripts, songs and dance routines) which they then showcase to friends and family at a professional theatre in our local area. It is the Dance Teachers role to choreograph the routines chosen for the Showcase. We are a Musical Theatre lead school and realise the core importance of dance technique and the ability for our students to pick up choreography quickly. We are seeking a minimum, one-year commitment, with the role commencing on Saturday 17th January 2026. Our Saturday School takes place during term time from 10am-1:15pm in Forest Hill, SE London. We run a 10 week term except during our Summer term, which is 11 weeks. As we are a Musical Theatre based school, the appointee would work alongside our current team of teachers who also hold classes in drama and singing. A Take Flight administative is also onsite at every session to deal with parent facing queries & venue etc. Applicants MUST have experience in teaching children ranging from 7-16 and must be able to convey their passion for dance to all our students. Recent Enhanced DBS is also required but can be arranged through us if needed. Experience and love of working with children of all ages is essential. Take Flight's approach is firm but fair, but with plenty of encouragement, inspiration, warmth, humour and fun thrown in! Fee and Responsibilities The freelance fee for the role is £30per hour. £97.50 for the full 3hr 15min session each week. All our teachers are responsible for the delivery of coherent, enjoyable, and impressive sessions, which in turn, keep the students coming back for more and maintain Take Flight Academy's drive for the highest possible standard of performance.
