The Pleasance Theatre Trust is looking for a pro-active, capable and motivated Deputy Box Office Manager to help lead the team with a meticulous attention to detail and a keen interest in comedy and theatre.

Job Description

The Deputy Box Office Manager will oversee the day-to-day running of the Box Office and assist the Box Office Manager with income generation and sales tracking. The Deputy Manager plays a key role in the delivery of the venue's ticketing facility and, during August, will provide operational and pastoral support for the fifty strong Box Office and Arts Industry teams. The successful candidate will be equally confident in front-facing customer service environments as they are in administration and have a proven track record for delivering excellent customer care. Reporting to and deputising for the Box Office Manager, the Deputy is also responsible for managing a variety of administrative and reception tasks and provides essential support in the delivery of festival operations each August.

Job Requirements

Essential Skills

  • High-level IT skills including experience of using a computerised ticketing/box office system with experience of online sales and reporting
  • Well organised and high attention to detail
  • Experience in addressing and managing customer complaints
  • Experience of leading and supervising a team
  • Willingness to learn new skills and commitment to continuous development of themselves and wider team
  • Multitasking and maintaining composure under pressure
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment or for a cultural organisation
  • Willingness to relocate during festival delivery (mid July - end of August)

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Red61 (Pleasance's digitised ticketing system)
  • Experience working in artist liaison roles or high pressured festival contexts
  • Interest in accessibility and working knowledge of the Equalities' Act (2010)

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily Box Office operations and routine maintenance of Pleasance's Red61 E-ticketing database to help maximise sales for the venue
  • Take bookings for all performances, recommending shows and fielding administrative calls
  • Build and maintain show inventory for seasonal, programme and event on sales across London and Edinburgh
  • Proof all event information for accuracy across multiple ticketing platforms
  • Provide support to incoming companies including the fulfilment of complimentary ticket requests, creation/tracking of ticket deals, subscriptions and e-ticketing requirements
  • Set-up and maintenance of third party listings including papering and charitable partners
  • Provide assistance with sales reporting and tracking in line with demands of the business
  • Oversee the smooth running of day-to-Box Office operations in London and Edinburgh
  • To champion excellence in customer care, access inclusion and ticketing, finding innovative ways to remove barriers for audiences
