About the Role

As Deputy Course Leader, you will support the delivery and ongoing development of the Songwriting course, working closely with the Course Leader to maintain high academic standards and a strong student experience.

You'll play a key role in teaching, maintaining programme quality, supporting student recruitment, and promoting equality of access and participation across the course.

What You'll Do:

Support the Course Leader in delivering an outstanding student learning experience

Plan and deliver teaching, assessments, and provide academic and pastoral support

Embed inclusive practices and support initiatives to reduce awarding gaps

Maintain curriculum quality and contribute to continuous improvement plans

Lead, manage and develop teaching staff, including recruitment and performance development

Contribute to the delivery of teaching on the course

Manage student and staff matters, including academic integrity and complaints

Work collaboratively with professional services on timetabling and resource planning

Champion student voice, wellbeing, and engagement

Contribute to curriculum development and enhancement

Monitor and report on key data (attendance, progression, student feedback) to drive performance improvements

Engage in ongoing professional development and scholarly activity

Job Requirements

What You'll Bring:

Significant experience within the music industry

A degree (or equivalent higher education qualification)

A teaching qualification in higher education, or willingness to achieve this within two years

Experience of cohort management and course administration

Proven ability to lead and manage teams to deliver high-quality education and strong student outcomes

Experience of using student feedback to drive engagement initiatives and improvement plans

Strong understanding of curriculum design, quality standards, and creative arts education

A track record of enhancing teaching quality and student success

Experience implementing institutional policies at course level

Confidence in using data to inform decision-making and improve performance

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams
