The Deputy Director is a senior member of the team at Southwark Park Galleries, supporting the Director and Board of Trustees with the implementation of all aspects of the creative and strategic development of the organisation. Contract Type: Full-time, 12 months fixed term, starting September 2026 - A confident knowledge of contemporary art and interdisciplinary programming. Deputy Leadership: Support the Director in organisational leadership, represent the gallery externally, and manage liaison administration for the Board of Trustees. Programme Management: Project manage exhibitions and public events, act as the lead contact for artists and curators, and oversee press strategies and artwork transport. Fundraising & Finance: Contribute to successful funding bids, monitor project-based budgets, and support reporting for Arts Council England. HR & Policy: Act as the first point of contact for HR queries, handle staff recruitment/onboarding, and maintain organisation-wide EDI and sustainability initiatives. Working Hours: 40 hours, 9am-5pm, some evening and weekend work with TOIL
Working Location: Southwark Park Galleries, SE16 2UA, with some flexible working
Salary: ÂŁ41,217 PAYE & Pension Contribution
Annual Leave: 28 days (excluding UK Bank & Public Holidays)
Probation Period: 3 months
Notice Period: 1 month

- Experience of devising, developing and delivering exhibitions, arts programmes, events and associated arts administration.
- Strong project management skills.
- Prior experience of contributing to successful fundraising bids.
- Ability to monitor and interpret project based income and expenditure budgets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously: on time and on budget.
- Good track record of audience development.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a wide variety of people and audiences, including editing and strong attention to detail.
- Well networked in the arts/culture sector.
- Proven experience of staff management and possess a people-focused style.
