Whether on our stages at our home on The Cut, touring to schools and community centres across South London, premiering a play in the West End or on Broadway, streaming our work across the country and around the world - the Young Vic is actively working to be a theatre for everyone. The purpose of the Production Department is to deliver all the technical aspects of the Young Vic's programme - this includes our productions, projects and events, in the main house, studios, digital 'stages', and across the creative engagement and talent development departments. The Production Department builds strong relationships with freelance and in-house creative teams, and other artistic personnel to deliver their creative vision within the agreed timescales and budgets, to the highest possible standards. The Deputy Head of Costume will take responsibility for the delivery and management of costume requirements for Young Vic productions and related projects both at the Young Vic and elsewhere. To support the Head of Costume in the effective planning, management and care of costume operations. To participate in the recruitment and management of freelance and casual costume technicians and show crew, as well as WHAM technicians when required. To personally, and with other staff, ensure compliance with all Health & Safety procedures and statutory regulations. To participate in department administrative and HR systems as required. To take an active role in the maintenance of the theatre's technical equipment and infrastructure. To support the Head of Costume in managing and maintaining the YV Costume Store for both internal and external use, ensuring it is kept well organised and tidy at all times. To take lead responsibility for the delivery of costume elements for productions when required as Costume Supervisor. To assist the Head of Costume and freelance Costume Supervisors in supporting, managing and realising costume designs and designers for productions and related projects. To support the Running Wardrobe show crew, in setting up Dressing Rooms, Quick Change spaces and delivery of costumes for all Young Vic productions. To provide show cover, when required. To keep up to date with current costume knowledge and wardrobe maintenance, and to remain current with industry best practice.
