Job Summary

Rodeo Productions are looking for a Deputy Head of Sound to work on the UK tour of Operation Mincemeat. Still enjoying a phenomenal run in London’s West End, Operation Mincemeat is now also on its first national tour and has an exciting opening as part of the Sound team.

Job Description

The Deputy Head of Sound will work closely with the Head of Sound, touring company, resident crew, and visiting crew, in establishing and executing the needs of the production.

The ideal candidate will have experience of touring and opening large-scale theatre shows, ideally musicals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Attending rehearsals and all show calls and maintenance calls as required
  • Where required, to operate and line by line mix a fast-paced dynamic show
  • Develop a thorough knowledge of all Sound equipment specific to the production
  • Maintaining the Production as instructed and dictated by the creative team and Head of Sound in line with the artistic requirements and direction of the Production;
  • Support the Head of Sound in sound equipment cleaning and daily sound checks to ensure equipment is in working order for each performance, and kept tidy and in a secure manner.
  • Responsibility for Sound load-ins and load-outs as required.
  • Having a practical understanding of the Producer's employment policies and demonstrating a willingness to comply with, and implement, these policies;
  • Working in accordance with the Producer's Health and Safety policy, which may include working at height and using appropriate safety equipment and clothing;
  • Complying at all times with the rules and regulations in force at the venues under the control of the Production;
  • Maintain a safe working environment always by conforming to established safety policies and procedures;
  • Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the production;
  • Work collaboratively with all other departments within the company to meet all technical and artistic requirements for the show.

Start date: The tour begins its tech period w/c 9th February 2026 (however, we may require the successful candidate to be available prior to this for prep).

End date: Saturday 28th November 2026

Job Requirements

Essential experience includes:

  • Touring sound experience on a large-scale production including strong live-mixing skills.
  • Experience in fitting, building and maintaining microphone rigs.
  • Experience and an understanding of stage & show running etiquette.
  • Leadership and ability to work under pressure.
