Job Summary

We are looking for  a Deputy Head of Wigs, Hair and Make-Up to join the National Theatre's Wigs, Hair and Make-Up team.

Job Description

We are recruiting for a new Deputy Head of WH&M. This role will ensure the smooth running of the Wigs, Hair and Make-up (WH&M) department across all productions through the coming months, maintaining high artistic and technical standards, supporting creative teams, and managing staff and resources during the transitional period.

This will include providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of the WH&M team; working alongside the Supervisors, to support incoming designers and actors, and ensuring the smooth running of the planning, administration and financial management of the department.

The successful candidates will have the following:

  • Knowledge of WH&M making and show running in a busy producing house - this could either be from previous experience in WH&M, or from another linked theatre/performing arts area (e.g. Wardrobe, Production Management)
  • Proven experience managing creative teams in a fast-paced, multi-production environment
  • To have good knowledge and understanding of the Theatre Green Book initiative and commitment in creating and maintaining a greener and more sustainable department in its practices
  • Proven communication skills with artists and a sympathetic approach to creative concepts and an ability to realise them in practical terms
  • Good computer skills across all of Microsoft Office (especially Excel).

If that sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you!
