We are seeking an experienced Deputy Stage Manager for The Pianist, a new musical based on the extraordinary memoir of Wladyslaw Szpilman. Featuring a cast of actor-musicians, the production will preview at MAST Mayflower Studios, Southampton, before transferring to Park Theatre's Park200 for a seven-week London run. The role will require a thoughtful, compassionate and supportive approach to company wellbeing throughout rehearsals and performances. Rehearsals are in London, followed by technical rehearsals and previews at MAST Mayflower Studios, Southampton, before returning to London for the Park200 run. Accommodation in Southampton and reasonable travel expenses will be provided by the Producer if applicable. £640 per week during rehearsals
£740 per week during performances
Plus overtime where applicable
During the three-week break, the first week will be paid as holiday. Weeks two and three will be paid at 50% of the weekly rehearsal rate. Holiday pay accrued after the three-week break will be paid at the end of the run.Job Requirements
A minimum of three years' experience as a Deputy Stage Manager on productions of a similar professional scale
Demonstrable experience of working on new writing or new musical theatre
Excellent organisational, communication and time management skills
The ability to read music to a high standard
Cueing to Music qualification or equivalent professional experience
Experience calling complex cue-heavy productions would be an advantage
Experience operating lighting for performances would be an advantage
Experience of working on touring or transferring productions would be an advantageJob Responsibilities
Assisting the Director during rehearsals, preparing and maintaining the prompt copy, and accurately notating staging and blocking
Calling the show for all technical rehearsals, previews and performances
Operating lighting cues during performances
Assisting the CSM with the smooth and efficient running of rehearsals, technical rehearsals and performances
Assisting with the preparation and distribution of rehearsal calls, schedules, reports and production paperwork
Maintaining accurate show paperwork, cue sheets and archival prompt materials
Assisting in maintaining the artistic integrity and standards of the production throughout the run
Teaching and maintaining the book with the ASM/Book Cover as required
Working in accordance with applicable UK Theatre/Equity agreements and industry best practice
