Job Summary

Theirworld seeks a Design Assistant to support the hands-on creation of visual content within our in-house Studio. This is an ideal role for someone at the start of their design or content-production career who wants to develop their skills across design, photography, video editing and digital.

Job Description

Theirworld is seeking a Design Assistant to support the hands-on creation of visual content within our in-house Creative Studio.

Our Creative Studio produces high-quality visual materials for the charity's campaigning, advocacy, fundraising and project work - including photography, short-form video, social media assets, branded templates, infographics and print/digital materials.

This is a highly practical, creative role ideal for someone at the start of their design or content-production career who wants to develop their skills across design, photography, video editing and digital asset creation.

Reporting to the Director of Communications and working closely with our Studio Manager, you will be part of a 10-strong Marketing and Communications team and collaborate with internal teams and external creatives.

Job Requirements

  • A proactive, enthusiastic 'can do' attitude.
  • Some experience and training in design and video editing (formal or self-taught). Photo editing is a plus.
  • Confident with design or editing tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud)
  • Familiar with social media channels and individual channel requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and a good visual eye.
  • Ability to work to brand guidelines and follow creative direction.
  • Good organisational skills and reliability in meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborative, positive and proactive working as part of a team.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple projects and timelines.

Job Responsibilities

The Design Assistant supports hands-on creative production across digital and print design, photography, video editing, and branded item development.

The role involves creating and adapting on-brand designs for printed materials, publications, reports, stationery, templates, and physical assets such as banners and signage, as well as preparing print-ready artwork and supporting proof checks.

They edit photography for use across campaigns, reports, social media, and print, and carry out basic video editing tasks including trimming, captioning, resizing, and exporting content for different platforms, ensuring all visuals meet brand standards.

The role also supports the design and production of merchandise and promotional items, preparing supplier-ready files and reviewing samples for quality and brand alignment.

Working from briefs, the Design Assistant delivers work on time, follows studio processes, communicates progress clearly, and supports smooth studio and team workflows.
