We are seeking a Digital Manager to shape how Ibraaz lives, communicates, and connects online. This is a hybrid role combining social media strategy, content creation, and the ongoing development and care of ibraaz.org—our publishing hub and digital archive.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Digital Communications & Social Media

  • Develop and deliver Ibraaz's social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn.

  • Create original, engaging content including posts, reels, stories, and threads.

  • Build an authentic and distinct digital voice for a cultural institution at its inception.

  • Translate artistic and editorial ideas into compelling digital moments.

  • Grow and engage online communities, sparking conversation and connection.

  • Monitor insights and analytics, using data to refine approach and inform programming.

  • Support promotion of exhibitions, events, editorial projects, films, audio, and public programmes.

Website Management & Development

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of ibraaz.org, ensuring content is accurate, up to date, and visually consistent.

  • Upload, edit, and publish new content including essays, interviews, videos, audio, events, and exhibitions.

  • Help shape the taxonomy, tagging, and structure of the website's content to allow for intuitive and accessible navigation.

  • Create and maintain templates, workflows, and guidelines for team-wide publishing.

  • Carry out light QA, fixing formatting, display issues, and basic technical glitches.

  • Ensure accessibility standards are met (including captions, alt text, and clear structure).

  • Maintain the overall health of the site, monitoring performance, updates, and stability.

  • Provide monthly analytics and user insights to inform editorial and programme planning.

Collaboration & Workflow

  • Work closely with Editorial and Programme teams to coordinate releases and digital campaigns.

  • Translate briefs into digital plans, schedules, and page layouts.

  • Liaise with external designers and developers when technical support or improvements are needed.

  • Ensure the digital identity of Ibraaz is coherent across all channels.

Job Requirements

Essential

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, digital culture, and current trends.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a high standard of English.

  • Experience managing content on websites or CMS platforms.

  • Ability to turn ideas into engaging digital content.

  • Strong visual awareness and storytelling ability.

  • Confidence working across teams and disciplines.

  • Experience with digital analytics and reporting.

  • A collaborative, proactive approach, coupled with attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience working in an arts, cultural, editorial, or archive environment.

  • Familiarity with metadata, tagging systems, or digital archiving.

  • Interest in the Global Majority, contemporary art, visual culture, and digital communities.

  • Basic understanding of accessibility standards for digital content.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will speak fluent meme, reel, thread, and trend, and know exactly when to use each; they will be able to turn powerful ideas into digital moments that travel; they will be energised by the chance to build a new digital ecosystem from scratch and move fluidly between creative and organisational tasks; they will value the complexity and brilliance of the Global Majority, and bring a curious, cross-disciplinary approach that is always looking ahead.

Working across editorial, and programme teams, the Digital Manager will ensure our digital presence is creative, cohesive, and technically robust. From crafting social-first content to maintaining web workflows, you will help establish Ibraaz's digital voice.

This role is ideal for someone who loves both the creative and the structural: you can think in memes and metadata; you're excited by storytelling but also by well-organised archives, intuitive search, and a healthy website.
