Job Summary

We are looking for a Digital Media Specialist Team Leader to join the BFI’s Data & Digital Preservation Team within the Knowledge, Learning & Collections Directorate.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Manage and develop team members in line with the Performance Management Scheme, ensuring regular individual and team meetings, clear objectives, and ongoing development. Work closely with the People team to identify development opportunities and address performance challenges early. Ensure all team members (employed and freelance) are engaged, informed, and aligned with departmental initiatives, targets, and expected behaviours, including when representing the BFI. 3 Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture, prioritising wellbeing and equity. Encourage cross-team collaboration within the department, across the BFI, and with external partners and stakeholders. Allocate and monitor team workload, providing guidance and support to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met. Lead the team through organisational and technological changes, ensuring smooth transitions and clear communication.

Job Requirements

Person Specification - Minimum Requirements Experience Proven experience in leading and managing teams, including performance management and staff development. Experience working within a digital media or cultural heritage field. Demonstrated ability to manage operational workflows and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience collaborating across teams and with external partners or stakeholders. Experience in compiling reports and contributing to strategic planning or improvement initiatives. Knowledge Understanding of digital audiovisual workflows, including preservation, transcoding, quality control, and access. Familiarity with digital preservation standards, good practice, and emerging technologies. Knowledge of relevant software and hardware tools used in digital archiving and restoration. 5 Awareness of data security, asset management, and risk mitigation in digital environments.
