This upcoming role is an opportunity for a keen and motivated individual to join the Masks & Puppets department on Disney's The Lion King on a fixed-term basis. Working with the Head and Deputy Head of Masks & Puppets, other assistant, and departments, this staff member will help with the day to day of running a large-scale musical to maintain the excellence of the show. Previous experience for this role is not required but is desired.

Job Requirements

  • Experience working with large scale puppets or props is required
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a large-scale production or Film/TV set working with an international cast is highly desirable
  • Clear, confident communication and decision making essential
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with the cast, creative and production team essential
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and use of own initiative
  • A full awareness of the need for integrity and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of maintaining stage Puppets, Props, scenic painting, metal work and sewing
  • Confident with power tools and basic carpentry knowledge in a workshop environment is essential
  • Knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Masks & Puppets, liaise between the Company Manager, Technical departments, Resident Creative Team, Production and General Management to ensure the smooth running of rehearsals and performances
  • Perform daily setup, oversee Puppets pre-sets and provide clear communication
  • Ensure awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required
  • Responsible for maintaining repairing Puppets and Masks as instructed and maintaining the quality of the show as dictated by the artistic requirements and under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head of Masks & Puppets, Production Manager and Resident Creative Team
  • Report and feedback show and staff-related issues in a timely manner
  • Acquire familiarity with all plots/tracks within the Puppets department
  • Work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy
