Description
Disney Theatrical Group invites passionate, skilled, and motivated professionals to join the production of The Lion King on a permanent basis. As a Wigs, Hair & Make-Up Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the iconic looks that bring the characters of the Pride Lands to life.
- Assist in the smooth running of the WHAM department across rehearsals and live performances.
- Assist the Head and Deputy Head of Wigs, Hair on any day-to-day changes that might impact the running of the Production.
- Participate in daily set-ups, pre-show checks, and efficient backstage operations.
- Ensure awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain, clean, and style wigs to ensure optimal condition and continuity.
- Support wig fittings and repairs, adhering to the artistic vision and production standards.
- Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.
- Responsible for repairing Wigs as instructed, maintaining the show's quality as dictated by the artistic requirements and under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head of Wigs, Hair and Make Up, Production Manager and Resident Creative Team.
- Report and feedback show and staff-related issues in a timely manner.
- Acquire familiarity with all plots/tracks within the Wigs department.
- Work in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy and maintain an excellent working knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation and good working practices, liaising closely with Disney's Health and Safety Manager to ensure that the Health and Safety Policy is followed.
- Experience: Experience in a similar role on a large-scale theatrical production.
- Make-Up Knowledge: Understanding of stage makeup and application. Strong makeup skills and knowledge of working with greasepaints, water-based paints and the use of fashion makeup products.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of wig construction, maintenance, and materials. Barbering or hairdressing experience (all hair types). An understanding of different materials and components of stage wigs.
- Afro-Textured Hair Expertise: Confident and proficient in working with Afro and textured hair.
- Wig & Barbering Expertise: Skilled in maintaining, repairing, and preserving high-quality theatrical wigs, & Skilled in cutting, styling, and maintaining all hair types, particularly Afro-textured hair.
- Collaborative Communication: Excellent relationship and interpersonal skills with the show's company.
- Health & Safety: working knowledge of H&S legislation and safe practices within a backstage environment.

Additional Information
- Start Date: Late July/Early August 2025
- Hours: 48 hours per week
- Schedule: Tuesday to Sunday (evening and weekend show schedule)
- This role will require the candidate to understand and follow the Health and Safety Rules & Regulations in place at the production.
