We are looking for a new member of the team to teach and inspire our young actors aged 6-18 on term time Saturdays from 10am -1pm and 2pm-5pm: Children are divided into 3 age groups and will require age appropriate teaching of acting skills and guidance for performance. Our young actors enjoy an hour's drama class in the drama studio at Varndean School. During the other two hours they train in dance and singing taught by other specialist teachers. Throughout the year they spend a term honing techniques and skills, another devising and preparing for performance and in the third term enjoy a range of workshop based sessions from Shakespeare to contemporary clowning or whatever their teacher can offer to extend their knowledge of theatre. Teachers will prepare 3 x 1 hour weekly sessions to be repeated in the afternoon school. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate the following: DBS enhanced checked Experience of teaching children Working well within a team Inspiring and nurturing young people whilst maintaining a focused and attentive class Creation and innovation of ideas for engaging class content Devising and directing skills to ignite original and artistic performances With 12-18 students in your class you will be responsible for Creating clear and structured lesson plans Collaborating with the team around themes for content Differentiating between different needs and abilities in the class where necessary Fostering an atmosphere of security and kindness in which each child can thrive and work towards fulfilling their potential Please contact Red Gray at [email protected] outlining your teaching experience, specific areas of interest within theatre and please attach a CV to show your training and experience with children.Job Summary
