The Duty/Technical Manager ensures smooth operations of Collective Acting Studio's part-time programs and short courses. Responsibilities include exceptional customer service, facility maintenance, and technical support for performances/events. Key to seamless delivery and positive experience.

Actual Salary: £18,000 p.a (0.6 - 21h per week) - £24,000 p.a (0.8 FTE - 28h per week)

Core Hours:
- Monday, Thursday, Friday: Late afternoon/evening shifts
- Saturday: Daytime (variable during events/shows)
- Sunday: Off (except during productions)
- Wednesday: 9:30-11:00 AM - Required weekly team meeting (can attend remotely)
- Additional hours compensated as Time Off In Lieu

Part-Time/Short Courses:
* Manage evening/weekend course operations and participant experience
* Handle course bookings and inquiries efficiently
* Set up classrooms and equipment for classes
* Maintain strong presence and deliver excellent customer service
* Prepare facilities according to programme requirements

Technical Support:
* Support technical operations for smaller performances and events
* Assist with get-ins and get-outs for productions
* Basic knowledge of sound and lighting equipment required (cables, basic operation)
* Work alongside professional technicians during larger productions

Facility Operations:
* Maintain building security, cleanliness, and safety standards
* Complete thorough closing procedures and building checks
* Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally
* Supervise front of house staff
* Provide first aid when needed and maintain incident documentation
* Conduct regular facility audits
* Manage inventory and supplies
* Support Operations team with administrative tasks

Additional Responsibilities:
* Attend weekly team meetings
* Assist with social media and promotional activities
* Other duties as assigned
* Cover for Head of Operations when needed

Job Requirements

Essential:

  • Customer service experience in public-facing roles
  • Basic health and safety knowledge in venue settings
  • Strong computer and admin skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proven multitasking and prioritization skills
  • Problem-solving ability under pressure
  • Basic technical knowledge or keen interest in theatre tech
  • Flexible with evenings/weekend work
  • Self-motivated with positive attitude

  • Dedication to equality and inclusion

Desirable:

  • Theatre/venue/education setting experience
  • Knowledge of venue management systems
  • Experience with Canva
  • First Aid certification (training available)
  • Fire Warden certification (training available)
  • Basic lighting/sound system experience
  • Team coordination experience
  • Knowledge of Element lighting system
  • Sound system setup knowledge

Job Responsibilities

Venue Operations You will manage evening and weekend courses, handle bookings/events and customer inquiries. Your duties include classroom setup, Front of House supervision, and maintaining excellent customer service. You must be prepared for emergency response and first aid situations.

Technical Support You will support performance technical needs, including get-in and get-out operations. This involves basic sound and lighting operation for smaller events, while assisting professional technicians during larger shows. Equipment safety is essential.

Building Management You are responsible for venue security, maintenance, and closing procedures. This includes building checks, inventory management, facility audits, and ensuring health and safety compliance.

Additional Duties You will attend weekly team meetings (Wednesday 9:30-11:00, remote option), support social media activities, and occasionally cover for the Head of Operations.
