Job Description

Early Years Lead - Art Camp UK

As part of this role, you will act as the Safeguarding Lead for your group, ensuring all policies are followed, maintaining clear records, and promoting a safe, nurturing environment. You'll work closely with the Camp Director and other DSLs to ensure every child is protected, supported, and thriving.

This is a seasonal position during school holidays only (February, Easter, May, Summer, October, Christmas).
Hours: approx. 40-45 hours per week, Monday-Friday, typically 8:00-16:00 or 8:00-17:00 depending on the daily schedule.
Pay: £140 per day, paid for days worked (pro rata).
Annual commitment: approx. 11 holiday weeks per year.

Leading up to 30 children with two supportive team members, you'll help make each day exciting, creative, and memorable.

What We're Looking For

Level 3 Early Years qualification or EY PGCE
Strong understanding of EYFS and child development
Ability to plan and deliver engaging creative activities
Confident team leader and excellent communicator
DSL training (or willingness to complete)
Calm, caring, professional approach
Passion for creativity and children's wellbeing

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification (Early Years Educator, Teaching & Learning, or equivalent).

  • At least 3 years' experience working with children aged 4-6 in an Early Years, nursery, or reception setting.

  • Strong working knowledge of the EYFS framework, child development milestones, and play-based learning.

  • Demonstrable experience planning and delivering engaging, creative, age-appropriate activities.

  • Experience supporting children with SEND, including adapting provision and completing observations.

  • Confident in safeguarding practice, reporting procedures, and behaviour management.

  • Paediatric First Aid (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).

  • Excellent communication with parents, schools and team members.

Creative Skills (Highly Desirable)

  • Ability to design fun, imaginative creative activities suitable for 4-6 year olds.

Job Responsibilities

Creative Planning & Delivery

  • Plan, design and deliver engaging, creative daily activities for children aged 4-6, ensuring variety across each holiday period.

  • Create weekly creative timetables, themed sessions and playful workshops inspired by art, craft, nature, storytelling, drama, movement, and sensory exploration.

  • Ensure activities are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the EYFS framework.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Lead and mentor a small Early Years team, ensuring high-quality care and creative delivery.

  • Work closely with the Site Manager to maintain smooth operations and uphold Art Camp UK's standards.

  • Delegate tasks to support staff and ensure consistent communication throughout the day.

Child Wellbeing & Safeguarding

  • Provide a nurturing, safe and inclusive environment where all children feel supported, encouraged and valued.
