TACO! is seeking a part-time, freelance producer to help with the development and delivery of our new early years programme BANG! SPLAT! WHOOSH! - an experimental sound studio, publishing-broadcasting house, and sculpture workshop, led by 2-4 year olds.

TERMS:

1 day per week (34 days Jan-Aug 2025)

8-month contract / self employed / freelance, with scope to extend.

£200 per day

Hybrid working between Waterways Children's Centre (where the majority of sessions take place) and our creative studio at Poplar Place.

Ideally your working day would be Monday, Wednesday or Friday, in order to cross over with the TACO! CYP Lead Producer. There is some flexibility in regards to this.

Some Saturday working on the last Saturday of the month from April onwards may be required, to accommodate 'Family Hub' sessions.

SUMMARY

BANG! SPLAT! WHOOSH! is an experimental sound studio, publishing-broadcasting house, and sculpture workshop, led by 2-4 year olds. A new 3 year project the project supports early-years children and artists to collaborate. It is funded by the Energiser Fund and underpinned by a partnership between artist-led organisation TACO!, and Better Children's Centres Abbey Wood & Thamesmead. Centring children as artists, and learning from their way of working, we believe all children should have access to making high-quality, compelling artworks, showcased to a wider public. Artist Jenny Pengilly will return to the children's centres as our lead artist in year one with further visiting artists to be recruited.

The role of Bang Splat Whoosh! Programme Producer works closely with the CYP Lead Producer in the development and delivery of the programme. This is an opportunity to be involved from the beginning of the project, to help shape and develop the project in collaboration with artists, partners, children and their families. projects and programmes that work with children and young people. As a member of the TACO! team they are expected to represent and embody the values of TACO! in all of their work with the public, stakeholders, artists and community members.

Job Requirements

ESSENTIAL

Knowledge and experience of contemporary art practices

Knowledge and experience of creative and artistic work with Children and Young People

including knowledge of best practice

Experience of working with a range of community and cultural partners

Experience of events and project management

Excellent relationship management skills.

Freelance Producer Public Liability Insurance (this can be obtained cheaply from a-n).

An up to date DBS check (see 'Safeguarding' below)

DESIRABLE

Experience of working with early years children and their families.

Job Responsibilities

- Curate, develop and manage workshops and public outcomes that work with artists, early years children and their families in art making as collaborators and co-authors

- Work alongside the CYP Producer in the research and recruitment of visiting artists

- Support artists in the planning and logistics of sessions: e.g. procuring materials, booking facilitators

- Act as the liaison between artists, facilitators and children's centre staff

- Attend online mentoring sessions with the Energiser Learning Community alongside CYP Producer (once a month). Attend other training and mentoring sessions as required.

- Assist with the facilitation of sessions where appropriate.

- Ensure the documentation of workshop sessions using photo and video, in line with our photo policy.
