Are you passionate about heritage and education?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Education Officer to play a key role in developing an exciting school learning offer as part of ENLab, an innovative Enfield-wide Heritage Education project.

The project will bring Enfield's built, industrial, and natural heritage to life-making it accessible, valued, and relevant for primary schools and families. Working, with key partners, including the Museum of Enfield, Forty Hall Estate, RSA Trust, Enfield Archaeological Society, Enfield Society, and Whitewebbs Transport Museum, ENLab will deliver inspiring heritage education for primary schools, Heritage Clubs, and a celebratory Heritage Festival for families.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Enfield Council's small, dedicated, Culture Team as we deliver ENLab and make a meaningful and lasting impact.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong track record of delivering educational activities in a museum or heritage setting, particularly for primary-aged children. The post holder will be responsible for developing engaging, curriculum-linked learning resource packs for primary schools, coordinating a Heritage Advisory Group, and creating exciting Heritage Clubs for families. Creativity in educational content development, excellent organisational skills, and experience of engaging schools, stakeholders, volunteers, and cultural partners are essential for this role.

Some weekend and evening work will be required.

Job Requirements

  1. Demonstrated interest in and understanding of the historical and archaeological significance of heritage sites and venues, including parks and landscapes.
  2. Proven track record in producing curriculum based primary school education resources within a heritage context. Demonstrated ability to effectively engage stakeholders, especially schools in creating resource material.
  3. Ability to effectively collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, including heritage organisations, teachers, school children and freelancers.
  4. Experience in organising and delivering curriculum-based heritage schools projects and collaborative activities. Demonstrated ability to respond to and adapt to participants needs to ensure quality engagement and outputs.

Job Responsibilities

The key outputs of the role will be to:

(1) create and plan the production and launch of borough wide Heritage Education Schools resource packs based on Enfield's built, industrial and nature heritage

(2) actively engage with stakeholders including council colleagues in Parks, Heritage, Education, Library teams, Heritage partners, primary schools (including teachers and pupils) and Friends of Parks Groups across different platforms and forums to create relevant and meaningful Heritage Education Schools resources packs

(3) To collaborate with the ENLab Volunteer Supervisor and work with stakeholders and all project partners to build volunteer capacity within heritage venues and Friends of Parks Groups, that will enable the creation and delivery of sustainable Heritage After School/Weekend Clubs for families.

Carry out all duties ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policies and procedures.
