Job Summary

We are looking for a creative freelancer to lead the process of developing a creative exhibition from start to finish, in collaboration with Eden Court, to celebrate our 50th Anniversary year.

Job Description

2026 will be Eden Court's 50th anniversary year - a milestone celebrating half a century of creativity, culture and community in the heart of the Highlands. To mark this occasion, we are developing a creative exhibition celebrating the people that have been part of Eden Court's story. We are seeking a skilled freelancer to lead the process of developing this exhibition from concept to delivery.

We intend to run a public callout inviting members of the public to share their experiences of Eden Court from across the last 50 years. Alongside this, some of the stories may also come from community discussions and targeted outreach to individuals and groups connected to Eden Court's history.

A selection of these stories will be curated into an exhibition that celebrates the diversity of people and experiences that have shaped Eden Court across the past five decades.

We are open to the format that the exhibition may take. For example, it could be:

  • A video projection of images and stories onto the outside of the building
  • Audio interviews that people listen to on headphones in different locations around Eden Court
  • A selection of objects displayed beside a written account of people's stories
  • A mural that brings together different stories over the 50-year timeline

This means we are also open to the type of experience that the freelancer brings - this could be curatorial, or it could be filmmaking, visual arts or community engagement.

Our key aims are that the exhibition is broadly engaging for a wide and diverse audience, and that it celebrates a cross-section of people and experiences.

We are looking for a creative freelancer to lead the process of developing the exhibition from start to finish, in collaboration with Eden Court.

Job Requirements

A creative freelancer will lead the process of developing the exhibition from start to finish, in collaboration with Eden Court, including:

  • Devising the format of the public consultation in a way that encourages high-quality engagement from members of the public.
  • Selecting the individuals and stories to be showcased in the exhibition and, where needed, connecting with contributors to get further information that will enrich the story, conducting interviews, taking photographs etc.
  • Taking the creative lead in devising and installing an exhibition that is visually and narratively engaging.
  • Leading on operational delivery and budget management of the exhibition to ensure it is delivered to a high standard and within budget. This will also include coordinating the deinstallation of the exhibition at the end of the process.

The budget for delivery of the exhibition is up to £10,000. This includes both the fee for the work and the budget to execute the exhibition itself.
