Job Summary

The Exhibition Producer plays a key role in the realisation of Ibraaz’s exhibitions and commissions. Working closely with Ibraaz’s Curatorial team, artists, technicians, and external partners, the postholder will manage all aspects of exhibition production and installation across the the building.

Job Description

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of exhibitions from initial concept through to installation, maintenance, and deinstallation.
  • Translate curatorial concepts into detailed production plans, schedules, and budgets that run across multiple spaces.
  • Develop exhibition timelines, installation methodologies, and staffing requirements.
  • Manage on-site builds, engaging and overseeing fabricators, technicians, art handlers, and freelance crews.
  • Ensure exhibitions adhere to relevant health and safety, accessibility, and conservation standards.
  • Produce and interpret technical drawings, including CAD plans, elevations, and construction details.
  • Oversee fabrication, AV installation, and lighting requirements in consultation with specialist contractors and Ibraaz AV team.
  • Conduct site surveys and prepare exhibition spaces for installation.
  • Prepare materials lists, equipment requirements, and installation guides.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges throughout the exhibition period.
  • Coordinate transport, packing, shipping, and customs arrangements for artworks and exhibition materials.
  • Work with artists, lenders, and registrars to ensure appropriate handling, storage, and installation of artworks.
  • Oversee condition reporting, installation documentation, and archiving of technical information.
  • Liaise with external couriers, conservators, and art-handling teams as necessary.
  • Manage exhibition budgets, including forecasting, monitoring, and reconciliation.
  • Prepare estimates, obtain quotes, and oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
  • Draft and issue contracts for fabricators and contractors.
  • Carry out risk assessments and method statements for all installation activity.
  • Work closely with the Curatorial, Operational, and Visitor Experience teams to support delivery across the building.
  • Maintain clear, timely communication with artists and project partners throughout the production process.

Job Requirements

Experience and Knowledge

  • Significant experience producing exhibitions within a museum, gallery, biennial, or contemporary art organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering complex installations, including fabrications, large-scale works, or technology-driven projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, AV systems, and exhibition build processes.
  • Knowledge of art handling standards, environmental considerations, and conservation principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act, and risk management/risk assessment in relation to H&S, fire safety and temporary work
  • Experience managing shipping, customs processes, and logistics for artworks.
  • Ability to produce, read, and interpret technical drawings and CAD plans.
  • Proficiency in key IT systems, including Word, Excel, Outlook; experience with programmes such as SketchUp, Vectorworks, or AutoCAD is desirable.

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required during installation periods.
  • Ability to travel for site visits, fabrication checks, and transport supervision.

Salary for this role is ÂŁ35,000- ÂŁ45,000
