This is an exciting opportunity to join the Queer Britain team. Your role will be to support our exhibition and display projects through project management, administration and coordination.

Your aim will be to support Queer Britain's exhibition and display projects through project management, administration and coordination.

CARE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All staff members are responsible for care of objects on display and in store, as well as care for public and operational spaces, visitors, volunteers and other team members at all times.

EXHIBITIONS & DISPLAYS

  • Assist with the planning, design and delivery of exhibitions and displays
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of public programming around exhibitions and displays
  • Contributing to strategic planning of future exhibitions and displays
  • When appropriate, leading on the curation of specific exhibition or display projects

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Maintain accurate and up to date budgets, programme schedules and documentation of all loans (in and out) for Queer Britain's Exhibitions and Displays
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation Queer Britain's collection as needed.
  • Support the collection of exhibitions and displays related data for reporting purposes

RESEARCH

  • As needed, undertake research for Queer Britain's curatorial work. This could include researching suppliers, loan organisations, potential collaborators, object histories and other areas as relevant.
  • Assisting students, researchers and members of the public with enquiries about the Museum's collections, exhibitions and displays as needed.

LOANS & COLLECTIONS

  • Support the care of all objects in Queer Britain's stewardship, collection and archive. In collaboration with the Head of Programme and Collection (Curator) ensure the correct conditions for display, transportation and storage are met.

Job Requirements

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WOULD BE

  • Someone experienced working in a curatorial or programming department in a museum or gallery
  • Someone with good knowledge of LGBTQ+ history and culture
  • A creative mindset, experienced in delivering co-curated and community centred projects
  • Someone able to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Museum staff, guest artists, retail partners and supporters
  • A dynamic individual, with the ability to work independently, and yet collaboratively across the entire organisation
  • Someone committed to their own professional development, and willing to share their knowledge, skills and experience
  • An excellent communicator, and confident with technology
