Job Description

We are also looking for specialist creative freelancers with experience of working with communities around health and wellbeing issues. We would like you to propose one-off or up to 4 half-day sessions to work with adults who want to quit smoking to provide introductions to creative alternatives and interests. This could include but is not limited to sessions such as floristry, art, creative journaling, photography, film making, poetry and creative writing, music, digital media, dance and drama. We are open to any creative suggestion.

Job Requirements

We would applicants to propose one-off or up to 4 fun and engaging half-day beginner sessions to support up to 15 adults who want to quit smoking by providing introductions to creative alternatives.

This could include but is not limited to sessions such as floristry, art, creative journaling, photography, film making, poetry and creative writing, music, digital media, dance and drama. We are open to any creative suggestion.

Most sessions will take place in one of our Newcastle Libraries and involve small groups of no more than 15 people.

Delivery must begin before 31 March and may run between February and April 2026.

Fee- £200 per 2/3 hr session or £350 per day which includes prep time.

We may be able to purchase some materials and equipment so please include in your proposal

DBS check and PLI up to £5 million are required

Job Responsibilities

To create and deliver up to four 3 hour sessions with up to 15 individuals in one of our branch libraries across Newcastle.

Sessions can focus on one activity or several specialisms

Encourage and engage participants to take up regular arts activity as an alternative to smoking

Provide information for referral to Stop Smoking services

Provide any necessary evaluation for the project

Please include any equipment you can provide. Please add a short paragraph detailing your practice and what you propose to deliver. Please include references.
