Job Description

The Festival Producer will play a pivotal role in delivering the Black British Book Festival's mission by ensuring the seamless execution of its events and programmes. This part-time role requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, typically spread over three days, offering flexibility for remote work with occasional travel to Birmingham and across the UK for meetings and events.

With a salary of £15,000 per annum (£14.42/hour), this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Europe's largest celebration of Black literature. Working closely with the festival director and partners, the successful candidate will manage timelines, budgets, and logistics, ensuring high-quality delivery of impactful cultural experiences. The role demands a strong focus on inclusivity, accessibility, and creative collaboration.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience in project management, event production, or facilitation, preferably in the arts, culture, or publishing sectors.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in digital tools for remote work, including project management and virtual collaboration platforms.
  • Passion for Black literature, arts, and culture.
  • Ability to work remotely with reliable internet access.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to Birmingham and across the UK for meetings and events.
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend work during events.
