Job Summary

Fabrica is seeking a conscientious, proactive and highly organised Finance Manager to join our small, friendly team in central Brighton.

Job Description

This is a key role at the heart of the organisation, ideal for someone combining strong financial expertise with a collaborative approach and a commitment to a creative, community-focused charity.

Based in our Grade II* listed building in Brighton's historic Lanes, Fabrica is a contemporary arts space delivering exhibitions, events, workshops, performances and community-led activity exploring creativity, learning and wellbeing. Alongside our public programme, we run a busy venue hire offer and work with a wide range of local and national partners.

As Finance Manager, you will lead day-to-day financial management, working closely with the Director and Trustees to support planning, reporting and governance. You will ensure financial systems are robust, transparent and compliant with Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC requirements.

You will oversee management accounts, cashflow forecasting, budgets, payroll, VAT returns and year-end processes, and act as main contact for auditors. You will also support funding applications, funder reporting, and financial monitoring for Fabrica and its trading subsidiary. Clear financial reporting will support informed decision-making across the organisation.

Working closely with the Administrator, you will oversee bookkeeping and financial processing, ensuring accurate records of income, expenditure, petty cash and banking. You will help identify and manage financial risks and contribute to improving systems, policies and procedures.

This is a hands-on yet strategic role, requiring confidence across operational and advisory levels. You will need strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues. Experience in charity finance, including VAT and trading subsidiaries, is highly desirable.

If you're ready to support the financial sustainability of a respected arts organisation and community space, we'd love to hear from you.
