Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced freelance Finance Manager to provide vital financial information, strategic direction and planning to the CEO, SMT and Board of Trustees.

This is a freelance contract for 1 day/wk plus additional time around quarter/year ends (on average 6 days/mth).

The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role as a key advisor to the CEO, SMT and Board of Trustees, providing professional insights into financial matters. You will lead on all aspects of financial management from budgeting, accounting and compliance, financial management of grants to supporting the CEO, SMT and Board of Trustees with financial planning and decision making.

Job Requirements

  • Part/Fully qualified

  • At least 2 years' experience within a management accounting role.

  • Experience of Charity financial and management accounting

  • Experience managing Fixed Assets, Prepayments, Accruals, Intercompany accounts and overseeing debtor management.

  • Experienced user of Sage 50 Accounts software

  • Experience of managing different donation platforms including CAF & Paypal.

  • Experience of processing Gift Aid Claims

  • Relevant knowledge of SORPs related to charity work.

  • An understanding of Governance and working with the structure of a charity and its board of trustees.

  • Have line management experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Be an active lead in the financial management of the company providing reports to the SMT, Board and funders

  • Reconciliation of balance sheet and Profit & Loss accounts

  • Manage accruals and prepayments.

  • Produce timely, detailed, and accurate quarterly financial reports and cashflow forecasts with variance management, to enable management decision making and for submission to funders.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to produce an Annual Budget.

  • Assist with the financial aspects of funding applications and monitoring reports.

  • Manage audit compliance and the year-end audit process, providing the necessary information to external auditors.

  • Complete statutory returns to Charities Commission and Companies House

  • Manage Trustee governance at Charities Commission and Companies House

  • Line-manage a part-time bookkeeper
