The Trust is recruiting a full-time Finance Process Assistant to join our busy Finance team.

Job Description

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is recruiting a full-time Finance Process Assistant to join our busy Finance team.

Working as part of a small team you will assist in the day-to-day accounting of financial transactions (income and expenditure) for both the Trust and its trading operations. You will perform the day-to-day operation of sales and purchase ledgers, including credit control, together with cash book processing and assistance with month end reconciliations. You will work with other team members to ensure that tasks are completed accurately and on a timely basis to meet month end process deadlines.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of working in a finance role, good understanding of double entry bookkeeping and reconciliations. An AAT qualification or evidence of studying towards it would be desirable. You will have good interpersonal skills, have a proactive approach to work and be a good team player.

The closing date for applications is Sunday 10 November 2024 and interviews will take place on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 November 2024.

Job Requirements

  • Relevant finance team experience of working within a Charity with a retail trading subsidiary would be advantageous
  • Good practical experience of using a cloud based finance system and its interaction with other operating systems is desirable
  • Flexibility to learn new systems
  • Experience of dealing with a significant volume of transactions
  • Used to providing accurate and timely information in fast moving environments
  • Relevant experience of VAT is desirable

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring that all income and expenditure is accounted for accurately and on a timely basis
  • Work with other team members to ensure that the month end process timetable deadlines are met
  • Work with budget holders and other staff to ensure correct coding and authorisation levels are maintained
  • Day to day operation of sales and purchase ledgers
  • Day to day cash book processing
  • Assist with the implementation of improvements in systems and controls to deliver better integration, efficiency and effectiveness in organisational decision making
  • To work with the Finance Team Leader on additional projects as required
