Job Summary

Each year we celebrate the unique story of Wigan’s Flashes with a weekend and creative and nature activities at Pennington Flash. Celebrating both it’s industrial past and it’s current status as Greater Manchester’s only National Nature Reserve. The festival will take place on Sunday 6th July.

Job Description

As part of the programme of the festival we are looking for three artists to run a craft activity to engage families with the theme of nature.

You will need to:

  • Plan a craft activity suitable for all ages.
  • Deliver the activity on Sunday 6th July.
  • Activities should be in the 'make and take' style with each participant creating an object that they can take away with them.
  • Activities will be drop ins, with new participants joining at any point in the session.
  • You must provide enough materials for 100 participants.
  • You will have a budget that must cover your own time and materials.
  • Down to Earth will provide a Gazebo and two large trestle tables.

Contract

The fee will be £500 Inclusive of VAT, materials, travel and all over expenses.

The contract will be made to a freelance individual or an organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for their own tax affairs.

Down to Earth is the Creative People and Places Programme working across the Borough of Wigan. We aim to connect more people with the borough's abundance of high-quality green space through creative activities & engage local communities as audiences, advocates & leaders to create new work, together, that couldn't be made anywhere else.

The Flashes Festival of Nature is a partnership between Wigan Council and Down to Earth and this role will report to Down to Earth.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be contracted for one day of delivery on Sunday 6th July only.
