Job Summary

Part-time freelance support for a London-based abstract painter. Role includes Instagram planning, captions, mailing-list/contact organisation, studio updates, available-works PDFs, occasional PV/studio-visit follow-up. Freelance part-time role, initially for a three-month period

Job Description

I am a full-time abstract painter based in London, looking for part-time freelance support with Instagram and wider studio communications.
-I built my Instagram account organically to around 14k followers over several years. Now I would like help making it a more consistent and useful part of my studio practice, without making it generic, overly salesy, or high-volume for the sake of it.
-This role may include:
- helping plan Instagram posts, stories/reels, and captions
- advising me on what photos or short studio clips to capture
- helping keep the tone of the account authentic to me and the work
- looking at how my Mailchimp lists and show contacts are organised, and whether they could be made more useful
- helping prepare occasional studio updates, private-preview emails, or available-works PDFs
- helping with light follow-up around studio visits, private views, or new work previews

This role would suit someone who is organised, art-literate, visually sensitive, and comfortable with both social media and practical admin.
-Experience with artists, galleries, arts organisations, Mailchimp, contact lists, Instagram planning, or private views would be useful.
-This is not a viral-growth or high-pressure sales role. I am looking for someone thoughtful and reliable who can help create more high quality visibility & structure around the public-facing side of my studio practice, while allowing me to spend more time painting.
-It will start with a defined paid trial period, probably three months, at around £500/month, with clear tasks and a review at the end. We can agree a realistic monthly scope together.
-Ideally the role would begin with an in-person studio meeting in London, then continue mostly remotely, with occasional in-person support if useful.
-Estimated working hours are 10-20 hours per MONTH (approx 2.5 hours to 5 hours per WEEK), pay to be £500 per month, initially for 3 month period

Job Requirements

-Experience with Instagram planning, captions, stories/reels, and scheduling
-Strong visual judgement and sensitivity to tone
-Interest in contemporary art and artists' practices
-Organised, reliable, and able to work independently once briefed
-Comfortable with Mailchimp or similar email platforms
-Able to help organise mailing lists, show contacts, enquiries, and past collector/client information
-Clear written English and ability to draft thoughtful, non-generic copy
-Comfortable preparing simple PDFs or documents showing available works
-Able to meet for studio meetings in North London
-Respectful of the artist's existing voice, audience, and working process
Very Useful but not essential:
-Experience with artists, galleries, arts organisations, private views, or exhibitions
-Experience with software tools such as Notion, Airtable, Canva, Google Drive, or similar

Job Responsibilities

-Plan a light, realistic monthly Instagram schedule with the artist
-Draft captions and suggest suitable stories/reels from supplied studio material
-Advise on what images, videos, or process details would be useful to capture
-Help organise existing Mailchimp/show contacts so they are easier to use
-Prepare occasional studio updates, private-preview emails, or available-works PDFs
-Keep track of useful enquiries, replies, and possible follow-ups
-Support simple admin around studio visits, private views, or new work previews
- Review what is working each month and suggest practical improvements
