Job Summary

We're looking for a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a feasibility study exploring options for the next stage of capital developments at Lichfield Garrick Theatre, including expanding seating capacity and adding new participation/production spaces and facilities.

Job Description

The budget available for this study is £50k + VAT inclusive of expenses and we are aiming for the work to be carried out between Jul-Oct 2026.

We anticipate that the team delivering this study will need demonstrable experience of working on similar arts/culture capital projects and will combine business, architectural and a range of technical/QS expertise.

Job Requirements

To lead a study, working in partnership with Lichfield Garrick charity, Lichfield District Council and other stakeholders to consider options for:

  • Increasing Audience Capacity (Main House)
  • Increasing Audience Capacity (Studio)
  • Improving Participation/Production Facilities
  • Improving Connection with surrounding public realm

We also want this study to address three key cross-cutting priorities:

  • Improving accessibility throughout the building;
  • Reducing energy usage / improving environmental performance;
  • Upgrading outdated mechanical & electrical systems.

Job Responsibilities

Specifically to deliver:

  • Analysis/market testing of the programme enhancement & audience/income growth ambitions that underpin this project;
  • A range of initial architectural concepts;
  • An interim presentation to Garrick Trustees & strategic partners;
  • Architectural proposals for a preferred concept developed to RIBA Stage 2, with an adequate level of specialist technical input to enable effective outline costing;
  • Outline cost plans for the elements/options presented;
  • Outline programmes for the elements/options presented;
  • An assessment of fundraising/finance options;
  • An assessment of project management/governance options;
  • A final presentation to the Garrick Trustees & strategic partners;
  • A final report suitable for presentation to funding bodies.
