Pangaea Sculptors' Centre Pangaea is seeking a Creative Learning Assistant to support the delivery of our Adventures in Material & Space children's sculpture courses, which take place in the half-term and holidays. This series of three-day short courses for children aged 6 - 11 focuses on creative thinking and technical skills development in the expanded field of contemporary sculpture. Adopting a sensorial approach, we will give the children freedom to form new relationships with materials via tactile activities that revolutionise their ideas into sculpture. Teaching how to communicate through the language of three-dimensional form, we will encourage expression through sculpture and design. By igniting imagination and playfulness, we will harness the children's creativity by allowing freedom of thought in an enabling and inclusive environment, creating opportunities for discovery in materials and sculpture. Led by artist and educator Lauren Cooke, this course is influenced by her experience and training in the Montessori pedagogy, with a focus on movement and sensorial stimuli. During the course the Creative Learning Producer takes the children through a range of planned activities and self-led creative and sculptural discoveries. The course duration is 10 - 4 pm, with optional wrap-around care. On the first day of each course, you will be required to come in at 8:30 am to help set up the space. Outside of this your daily hours will be between 9:45am - 4:15pm. We are looking for an individual who is passionate, motivated and dynamic to assist the Creative Learning Producer to deliver creative experiences in the expanded field of sculpture. You will bring a sense of fun during the activities, teaching specific skills as well contextualising the activities, sharing skills and knowledge with participants. The role requires the ability to take instruction from a lead educator and to engage young people that are taking part in the course. Throughout the course you will need to provide guidance and support to children, answering questions and offering assistance with techniques, tools and/or creative ideas. The children work with exciting and open ended materials to create sculptures based on a chosen focus during the course. At times the children will need to be encouraged to work collaboratively and we need an inspiring Creative Learning Assistant to promote playfulness, inquisitiveness and experimentation. Essential - To be friendly, approachable and with a genuine passion to help young people to learn and develop their creativity. - Experience working with children in a group setting, such as teaching, early years, workshops or camps with a knowledge of child development. - Experience working with neurodivergent and SEN children. - Confident in delivering planned activities. - An interest in art practice and creativity. - Ability to help facilitate artistic ambitions and address challenges with imaginative and practical solutions. - Motivated, proactive, creative and shows initiative. - Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and to work under pressure. - Experience maintaining health and safety procedures. - Registered self-employed. Desirable - A Degree or professional qualification; which is appropriate to the role/work or significant work experience. - Delivery of art workshops with children or in the community. - An interest in sustainable materials. Please provide a CV and covering letter detailing your work experience and why you are suited to take on this role to [email protected]. If you experience challenges or are unable to use this form, please contact: [email protected]. We are an equal opportunities employer.Job Summary
