Job Summary

Award-winning Canal Café Theatre has been perched on the Regent's Canal since the 70's. It is a renowned comedy, cabaret & theatre venue, and home to comedy institution, NewsRevue.

Job Description

We are looking for someone to join the team as administrator, who will assist with the daily running of the venue and administrative duties, and Production Assistant on NewsRevue, the world's longest running live comedy show.

This is a freelance position, with the expectation of a minimum of 15 hours per week.

- Experience working within an arts organisation in any capacity, preferably within a producing company or a performing arts venue.

- A passion for comedy and new writing, and an understanding of the comedy and fringe theatre scene in a London context.

- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word).

- Experience with box office ticketing software, preferably LineUp.

- Experience with Mailchimp or a similar newsletter software

- Knowledge of WordPress or web maintenance experience desirable but not essential.

- Experience in creating social media marketing material across various platforms. Knowledge of using Canva desirable but not essential.

- Experience of petty cash handling.

- Excellent communication and organisational skills.

- The ability to multitask with a positive demeanour and a want to learn new skills.

- Experience in stagecraft (prop making/costuming) is desirable but not essential.

For the right candidate, further opportunities to work on our box office and/or as a theatre technician will also be offered.

Please note that this position will fully begin on the week commencing the 31st August 2026, with a gradual handover taking place throughout July and August, to be agreed with the selected candidate.
