Job Summary

ATLAS Gallery seeks a motivated Gallery Assistant to support sales, operations, and digital outreach. The role spans front-of-house, sales and registrar tasks. Multifaceted role suited to someone who is organised, confident with technology, passionate about photography.

Saturday work is required on a rotational basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Front of House & Client Interaction:
    Welcome visitors, handle enquiries, support sales efforts, and represent the gallery in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Sales Support & Administration:
    Assist in preparing client offers and presentations, managing invoices and sales records, and coordinating post-sale logistics including shipping, customs, taxes, and insurance.
  • Registrar Duties & Inventory Management:
    Oversee cataloguing, condition reporting, and tracking of artworks using Artlogic. Assist with installations, packing, and international shipments.
  • Digital & Web Management:
    • Update and maintain the gallery website and e-commerce platform.
    • Optimise content for SEO to improve search visibility.
    • Upload and manage artworks on third-party platforms such as Artsy and Artnet.
  • Social Media & Marketing:
    • Coordinate and schedule posts across Instagram and other channels.
    • Create promotional materials and digital assets using InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Exhibitions & Events:
    • Provide support during openings, events, and art fairs, including some evening and weekend hours.

Job Requirements

Requirements

Essential:

  • 1+ years experience in a gallery, museum, auction house, or similar art organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of photography, particularly photographic prints and editions.
  • Experience with:
    • Artlogic (or similar inventory software)
    • Photoshop and InDesign
    • Website management and e-commerce platforms
  • Professional and friendly demeanour, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team and take initiative.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings during exhibitions and events.
  • Knowledge of shipping, exhibition logistics and registrar duties.

Desirable:

  • Sales experience or direct involvement in client development.

  • Knowledge of an additional language is highly desirable (e.g. French, German, Mandarin, etc.).
