Job Description

The Royal Academy of Arts is delighted to be partnering with the Genesis Foundation to recruit our second cohort of the Genesis Future Curator Programme, a two-year trainee programme. We have two positions available on the programme, both of which will provide a unique and valuable opportunity to gain a 360 degree view of the life of a Curator at the RA, in addition to broader insights of the inner workings of our organisation.

This opportunity sits with our Collections Team, who curate and manage the Royal Academy's world-leading collection of art across paintings, sculpture, furniture, silver, artists' materials, works on paper, film and photography.

On a day-to-day basis the Genesis Future Curator (Collections) will begin by working alongside their line manager on tasks and projects and in time progress to working more independently. Tasks will range from researching and cataloguing objects, enabling and supervising external researchers to access the collections, responding to public enquiries, participating in the realisation of public displays from their inception to their hang and attending curatorial meetings and the planning and programming of future displays.

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have gained experience completing an arts related degree and have a keen appetite for learning. Excellent communication skills are key as is fluency in written English and the ability to craft and edit well written and compelling text. You will also possess razor sharp attention to detail, great organisation skills and have the ability to self-motivate and work well under pressure.

We have developed a cohesive skills development programme for this position so that at the point of completion you will have fostered the knowledge and skills for a long and successful career in the art world.
