Job Summary

We’re looking for an experienced arts manager who has extensive knowledge of working with and for children, families and young people at a strategic level, and in particular in music education.

Job Description

You will have demonstrable people management experience and will be excited about leading a team through a time of change, with a keen interest in internal & external partnership building to positively impact the greatest number of children, families and young people possible.

The role is based at Snape Maltings but some travel and support to other locations within Suffolk will also be required. We are open to supporting applicants with flexible working patterns.

In particular we are looking for:

A strategic and imaginative leader, passionate about shaping inspiring music opportunities for children, families and young people
A proven track record of creating and delivering meaningful arts and music programmes that make a real difference
An inspiring and supportive team leader, able to nurture, motivate and develop others
A natural collaborator, who builds strong, trusted partnerships across education, arts and communities
A deep commitment to inclusion and access, opening doors for people from all backgrounds to engage with music
Experience of leading safeguarding with care and integrity, placing young people's wellbeing at the heart of the work
Confidence in managing budgets and using insight and evaluation to strengthen programmes and impact
An engaging and thoughtful communicator, able to champion the work and connect with a wide range of audiences

Job Requirements

Significant experience delivering music, arts or education programmes for children and young people
Strong strategic thinking and project planning ability
Proven team leadership and people management experience
Experience of partnership working across arts, education and community sectors
Commitment to inclusion, access and widening participation
Knowledge of safeguarding practice and responsibilities
Budget management and evaluation experience
Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
Understanding of music education, including formal and informal pathways
Confidence working across a wide range of stakeholders, including music hubs

Job Responsibilities

Lead and shape the strategic direction of the Children, Families and Young People programme
Oversee delivery of both formal (Pathways) and informal (Engagement) learning programmes
Manage and support a team, fostering a positive, inclusive and high performing culture
Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and oversee safeguarding practices
Build and maintain partnerships locally, regionally and nationally
Contribute to wider organisational leadership and strategic planning
Oversee budgets, reporting, evaluation and continuous programme improvement
Support fundraising and development activity, including bid writing and stakeholder reporting
Represent the organisation externally and contribute to sector conversations
