Watts Gallery Trust, a registered charity, has an exciting opening for the role of Head of Marketing and Admissions (maternity cover). As the Trust enacts its recent ten-year vision as a creative home for our local community, and three year strategy, we are looking for someone who is flexible and enjoys working in a leadership role in a fast-paced and changing environment. Working at the heart of a thriving cultural institution you will significantly grow audiences to the site, particularly our Creative Families and Art Loving Adult segments, through the marketing of key exhibitions and events, the Art for All by All community programme, the creation and distribution of digital content, engagement with the collection, site history and architecture, and the unveiling of G F Watts's sculpture Physical Energy in the grounds of Limnerslease.

Responsible for admissions targets and ticketing systems, you will maximise income generation opportunities across platforms. The position will also play a key role in supporting the Watts Contemporary Gallery, Tea Shop and Shop in achieving an increase in trading activity and in assisting the Development team with campaign planning, all of which are pivotal to the future success of Watts Gallery - Artists' Village.

Starting salary: £43,000

Job Requirements

  • Leadership experience in Marketing and Admissions, preferably in the museums or arts and cultural heritage sectors.
  • Proven track record in growing paid admissions at a cultural heritage / museum / visitor attraction.
  • Demonstrable understanding of all aspects of marketing, PR, media and brand management.
  • Proven experience of digital marketing, website management and development, CRM, and online ticketing.
  • A sharp eye for creative design and experience of creating and enhancing brand awareness to attract new customers.
  • Demonstrable track record of engaging and increasing audiences and meeting annual targets.
  • Effective project management and experience of leading on all stages of the design process, from the development of ideas to the execution of projects.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to think and act strategically and to develop and implement practical and effective procedures.
  • Excellent budget management skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver the Marketing and Admissions strategy to significantly drive admissions to the whole site offer of gallery, artists' house, chapel, grounds, public programmes and the tea shop, shop, and contemporary gallery, as well as grow memberships and attract new audiences.
  • Achieve admissions income targets, driving up the average income per admission.
  • Maximise opportunities from the delivery of the recent CRM-IT integration project, in tandem with ticketing and main website developments.
  • Work effectively as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the future development of the Artists' Village and effectively market new and existing income streams to ensure footfall and revenue targets are met or exceeded.
  • Extend the digital and social media strategy, increasing reach and raising awareness amongst new audiences.
  • Further develop and roll-out the organisation's brand identity.
  • Drive forward the audience development strategy to meet the organisation's goals.
