CADS South Yorkshire (Creative Arts Development Space) is a charitable organisation that transforms disused and underused buildings into affordable and inspiring spaces for artists, creative businesses and community groups. Through our network of studios, rehearsal rooms and venues, we play a vital role in supporting Sheffield's independent cultural sector and ensuring access to space for creativity and innovation. We are seeking a Head of Operations to provide strong leadership in the day-to-day management of the organisation. This senior role is central to ensuring that our buildings, staff and systems operate effectively and sustainably. You will oversee a diverse property portfolio that currently includes Eagle Works, Arley Street Studios, Exchange Street, and the newly opened Denby Rooms, with further projects in development. The postholder will be responsible for the effective running of our sites, including property management, health and safety, compliance, repairs and maintenance. You will also lead a small team of staff and contractors, providing line management and support, while developing systems that ensure smooth and efficient operations. Financial oversight will form a key part of the role, managing cash flow and maximising income from lettings and rentals. You will liaise with the Board of Trustees and contribute to strategic decision-making, ensuring that CADS continues to grow sustainably. We are looking for a candidate with excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, a strong background in operations or property management, and the ability to lead people effectively. You should be practical, adaptable, and confident working across a wide range of responsibilities, from managing contractors to developing policies. You should be confident managing buildings, budgets and people, with proven skills in problem-solving and organisational planning. Essential requirements include: Experience managing multiple sites, contractors and repairs Knowledge of health and safety, compliance and risk management Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and monitoring cash flow Line management experience and ability to support a small team Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Practical, adaptable and solutions-focused approach Desirable: Knowledge of Sheffield's arts and cultural sector Experience working with creative spaces or venues Understanding of charity governance or working with trustees Oversee the day-to-day operations of CADS South Yorkshire, ensuring buildings, staff, and systems function effectively. Manage our property portfolio, including Eagle Works, Arley Street Studios, Exchange Street, and the Denby Rooms, coordinating repairs, maintenance, and compliance. Lead, support, and line manage staff and contractors, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment. Monitor occupancy and income from lettings, ensuring budgets are managed and financial performance is maximised. Ensure health and safety, risk management, and legal compliance across all sites. Prepare operational reports and updates for the Board of Trustees. Contribute to strategic planning and organisational development, supporting new projects and growth initiatives.
