Job Description

We're looking for a Head of Operations to join the team at Friction Arts.
Friction Arts delivers community-rooted creative projects, events and partnerships across Birmingham and beyond. This role will play a key part in supporting the organisation's continued development and the ambitious programme of work planned over the coming years.
The Head of Operations will lead on the day-to-day operational management of the organisation, helping ensure Friction Arts runs sustainably, effectively and in alignment with its values and artistic mission. Working closely with the Executive Director and Artistic Director, the role will support organisational systems, financial and administrative processes, governance, HR and operational planning across the organisation.

Salary: 37-40K FTE
4 days/ 32 Hours weekly
Based at the Edge, Digbeth with flexible working

Job Requirements

We're looking for someone who has experience in a managerial or supervisory role in an arts, community or third sector organisation. You'll have experience in fundraising and budgeting and managing a range of managerial roles and responsibilities. You'll have a commitment to equity and inclusion and to making a difference for those most underrepresented in the arts and wider society. You'll have a passion for the arts and a desire to share it with the world. We're a small, dynamic and fast-moving company, who punch well above our weight and you'll need the ability to multi-task to complete the tasks offered to you. A sense of humour and a calm approach to the shifting day-day is recommended.

Job Responsibilities

Maintain oversight of organisational activity across Friction Arts' programmes, projects, partnerships, hires and day-to-day operations.
Lead on operational planning and organisational systems to support the effective running of the organisation and delivery of its programme of work.
Work closely with the Executive Director, Artistic Director and wider team to support the delivery of Friction Arts' strategic aims, business planning and organisational development.
Work closely with the Executive Director and Artistic Director to support Friction Arts' organisational development, sustainability and future growth.
Support the development and implementation of income-generating activity across the organisation, including venue hires, partnerships, projects and funded programmes.
