Job Summary

Rodeo Productions are looking for a Head of Sound to work on the UK tour of Operation Mincemeat. Still enjoying a phenomenal run in London’s West End, Operation Mincemeat is now also on its first national tour and has an exciting opening as part of the Sound team.

Job Description

The Head of Sound will work closely with the other Head of Departments, Deputy Head of Sound, Tech Swings, and Company Manager, in establishing and executing the stage needs of the production.

The ideal candidate will have experience of touring and mixing large-scale theatre shows, ideally musicals, and professional experience in a management position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Along with production engineers, setting up the sound equipment as per the design at each touring venue (including rigging and maintenance where required at all venues).
  • To operate and line by line mix a fast-paced dynamic show as required.
  • To lead sound equipment cleaning and daily sound checks to ensure equipment is in working order for each performance, and kept tidy and in a secure manner.
  • Ensuring all staff and areas for which you are responsible adhere to health and safety regulations.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with other departments, particularly the Performing Company, Wardrobe, Wigs and Music departments, resident venue staff, and visiting freelance staff to ensure the smooth running of the show.
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and understudy rehearsals as required.
  • Deal with emergency repairs and fixes to sound equipment and programmes.
  • To manage Sound load-ins and load-outs as required.
  • To support and assist other departments where required as an active member of the touring team.
  • To line manage the others in the Sound department.
  • Comply with the Manager's Health and Safety and other policies at all times.
  • Obtaining quotes and ordering all materials for the Sound department where required.

Start date: The tour begins its tech period w/c 9th February 2026 (however, we would require the successful candidate to be available prior to this for prep).

End date: Saturday 28th November 2026

Job Requirements

Essential experience includes:

  • Previous professional experience in a management or deputy management position.
  • Touring sound experience on a large-scale production including strong live-mixing skills.
  • Experience in fitting, building and maintaining microphone rigs.
