About the Role

Applications are invited for a Health & Safety Manager to join the Operations team at MDM Props. This is a full-time, permanent position responsible for leading our Health & Safety function and promoting a positive, proactive safety culture across the company.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant Health & Safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate, NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ Diploma, or an appropriate NVQ/SVQ Diploma.

A strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practice is essential, including areas such as machinery safety, COSHH, LEV, LOLER, DSE assessments, first aid, fire safety, and accident investigation. You must be capable of communicating clearly and persuasively with staff at all levels, including senior management, and have demonstrable experience leading improvements in workplace safety.

The Health & Safety Manager will oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety policies, procedures, and training, ensuring a safe environment for all employees, contractors, guests, and visitors.

Location & Commitments

  • Based at the MDM Props workshop in Greenwich
  • Full-time / 40hrs per week
  • Monday-Friday standard working pattern

Job Requirements

Candidate Requirements & Attributes

  • Significant experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within a manufacturing, workshop, or production environment (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, best practice, and risk management principles.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
  • Motivated, proactive, and able to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Positive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification essential; NEBOSH Diploma (or working toward) preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook required).
  • First Aid at Work and Fire Marshal certificates preferred (training available if needed).

Job Responsibilities

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the company-wide Health & Safety strategy, ensuring compliance with legislation and embedding a positive safety culture across all areas of the business.
  • Provide expert guidance to the Operations Director, senior management, and departmental leads on Health & Safety matters.
  • Oversee annual reviews of Health & Safety, fire safety, and emergency plans.
  • Lead monthly safety committee meetings, driving actions, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Policies, Procedures & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and regularly update Health & Safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with current legislation and industry best practice.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements, including machinery safety, COSHH, LEV, LOLER, DSE, fire safety, and first aid.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, external auditors, and insurers as required.
