The Heritage Manager will be responsible for leading the ‘The Lancashire Cricket Heritage Experience’ project.

Job Description

This role offers a unique opportunity for an individual with an interest in, and passion for, sporting and/or social history to develop and deliver a heritage focussed capital project and outreach programme, helping to create a ground-breaking world-class heritage experience at Emirates Old Trafford (EOT) that reaches out to communities across the county of Lancashire and beyond.

To support the achievement of this ambitious aim, Lancashire Cricket Foundation (LCF) have recently been awarded a £176,000 Development Phase grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) for a new project: 'The Lancashire Cricket Heritage Experience'.

The project will focus on creating a new Heritage Hub at EOT which will bring to life the Club's heritage collection with immersive technology, interactive displays, oral histories and hands-on exhibits. Additional plans include the development of a heritage trail around the stadium, a community outreach programme across Lancashire, and a new digital offer exploring Lancashire's cricket history and heritage.

The Heritage Manager will be responsible for leading the 'The Lancashire Cricket Heritage Experience' project.
The role will be directly responsible for leading a team of Heritage Volunteers and, subject to a successful Delivery Phase application, will directly line-manage x 2 Community Engagement Officers and x 2 Customer Services 'Welcomers', ensuring the successful delivery of all onsite and community outreach / digital programming.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate management experience in a heritage/cultural organisation. They will be an engaging and inspiring communicator and will have excellent interpersonal and management skills that will inspire staff, volunteers, partners, stakeholders and funders.

Experience of working on museum/heritage projects with a capital element.
A successful track-record in managing teams of staff and/or volunteers.
Experience in managing collections and developing content for exhibitions and displays.
Evidence of managing creative projects, and the ability to envisage what the creative experience can be and turn it into reality.
The ability to translate strategic plans into reality and ensure delivery and performance on time and to budget.
Understanding and experience of developing and working with diverse audiences.

Job Responsibilities

Work with the LCF Board and LCF team to successfully deliver the 'Lancashire Cricket Heritage Experience' project; responsible for managing finances, resources, volunteers and leading a team of consultants to ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget.
Be accountable to the LCF Board and Executive Director for the articulation, implementation and delivery of strategic and operational plans, including programming, marketing and business planning.
Enthuse and unite diverse audiences, ranging from Lancashire Cricket Members to schools and local communities.
Work with key stakeholders to ensure the 'Lancashire Cricket Heritage Experience' has a long-term business and development plan and forward budgets to enable the delivery of its strategic plan
Support the Foundation's Fundraising Manager in the successful implementation of the Fundraising Strategy and in managing relations with project funders.
