You will work within the Hayward Gallery Operations team, which is part of the Visual Arts department. You will participate in the installation, de-installation and maintenance of Hayward Gallery exhibitions and also on other visual arts projects around the Southbank Centre. A large part of the role is the fabrication of exhibition displays as well as working on fabrication aspects of Hayward commissions. Knowledge of art handling best practice and experience of handling a range of artworks in a gallery or similar environment. Workshop experience operating a variety of woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently. Ability to interpret technical specifications & drawings and translate into fabrication plans. Experience of working within Health & Safety guidelines. Art handling, including packing, unpacking, writing packing notes, installation and de-installation to museum standard. Construction/fabrication of various forms of display furniture, bespoke framing and case making to museum standards. Maintain exhibitions on view to the public to the highest standards.
