We are looking for enthusiastic and engaging practitioners to join our team of peripatetic instrumental tutors to deliver outstanding piano, violin, guitar & cello lessons at our South Wimbledon Music Centre and schools across Merton.

Job Description

School Piano Tutors Wanted - SW19, CR4

We are looking for piano tutors to teach 1-1 lessons at the following schools/times:

  • Mondays all day at a primary school in SW19
  • Mondays (circa 3 hours) at a primary school in KT3
  • Monday mornings at a primary school in CR4
  • Friday mornings at a primary school in CR4
  • A half day at a secondary school in SW19 (day flexible)
  • Friday mornings at a secondary school in CR4

Music Centre Piano Tutors Wanted - SW19, CR4

£34.50ph

We are looking for piano tutors to teach at our music centres:

  • Thursday after school (circa 2 hours) at our Soundwave Music Centre in CR4.
  • Wednesday evenings (circa 4.5 hours) at our Music Centre South Wimbledon, SW19
  • Jazz Piano Specialist - Wednesday evenings (circa 5 hours) at our Music Centre, South Wimbledon, SW19 - For the successful candidate, there may also be the opportunity to co-lead 'JazzWorks', MMF's Intermediate Jazz Ensemble.

School Violin Tutors Wanted - SE19,

£34.50-£35.50ph

We are looking for violin tutors to teach 1-1 lessons at the following schools/times:

  • A full day on Mondays split across two primary schools in SW19.
  • A half day on Tuesdays at a secondary school in SW20.

Music Centre Guitar Tutor Wanted - SW19
£34.50-£35.50ph

  • 3.5 hours of 1-1 lessons on a Saturday at our Music Centre South Wimbledon.

Music Centre Cello Tutor Wanted - SW19
£34.50-£35.50ph

We are looking for a cello tutor to teach 1-1 lessons and lead ensembles at our music centre:

  • 3 hours of 1-1 lessons on a Saturday and 2 hours spent co-leading our beginner and intermediate string ensembles at our Music Centre South Wimbledon.

Job Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

Inspiring and involving young people with a love of learning and making music.

Developing resources and adapting practice to suit the needs and interest of all learners.

Communicating with and reporting to parents/guardians and other professionals about pupils' learning needs, to identify and remove barriers to progress and welfare.

Following best practice in safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion

Supporting the vision and strategic aims of Merton Music Foundation.

What you can expect:

A dynamic and forward-thinking Music Education Hub with supportive leadership, curriculum, and administrative teams.

A learning community of over 80 peripatetic instrumental tutors and around 1500 children and young people learning every week.

MMF to handle administration of lesson fees and ongoing support with schools and parents/guardians, leaving you to focus on teaching.
