Interim Collections Librarian, The Portico Library

We are seeking to appoint an Interim Collections Librarian to provide professional oversight of the Portico's historic collections and to support the Library's day-to-day collections management and public engagement activity. The principal purpose of the post is to oversee the care, documentation, security and day-to-day management of the Library's rare books and archive collections, under the direction of the Librarian/CEO. The Library aims to provide a welcoming, accessible and professionally stewarded service through which the Portico's historic collections can be preserved, understood and shared. By enabling research, public learning and creative engagement with its books and archives, the Library advances its charitable mission to connect past, present and future through reading and discovery. The Interim Collections Librarian will support the Library's reader services, collections care programme and exhibitions activity while contributing professional advice on collections matters as the organisation prepares for the next phase of the Portico Reunited project. The primary focus of the role is the day to day stewardship, access and management of the Library's historic collections. This is a hands-on role combining professional oversight with practical delivery.
